Description


We are looking to strengthen our Engineering team with an Experienced Mechanical Engineer/Project Manager to support the Engineering & Projects Manager in providing detailed engineering specifications and calculations from tender or initial brief, through the design and development stage, testing, manufacture and implementation any components needed for the project.

 

Roles Responsibilities / Tasks

  • Provision of engineering reports needed for assessment of damage to vehicles including repair work or maintenance contracts.

  • Following detailed engineering drawings and writing work instructions for the Production team.

  • Providing detailed engineering calculations and innovation solutions to engineering issues arising.

  • Putting together comprehensive BoM’s for each project helping to source parts or improvised design concepts.

  • Develop and implement a BOM process to improve transmission of information between the engineering and supply chain teams.

  • Research and analyse customer design proposals, specifications, manuals and other data to evaluate feasibility, cost and maintenance requirements of designs or applications.

  • Ensure products / equipment can be manufactured reliably and will perform consistently within specified operating environments.

  • Designing and implementing cost effective modifications to improve safety, reliability and productivity.

  • Use research, analytical, conceptual and planning skills, mathematical modelling and computer aided design processes to interpret and specify required standards and specifications with colleagues, subcontractors, suppliers and customers.

  • Planning and designing new production processes

  • Promote Brodie Engineering’s behavioural expectations by enhancing and supporting working relationships within the business, customers and external agencies.

  • Comply with all Brodie Engineering policies as detailed in the Employee Handbook

  • This is written as the standard for the core purpose, responsibilities and expectations for the role.  As Brodie Engineering is a small team there will be times when there will be other duties as required through the business’s peaks and troughs where flexibility will be vital to our success.

Key Relationships & Contracts

  • Reporting directly to Engineering & Projects Manager

  • Working closely with: Production Managers, Project Managers and the Materials Manager

Key Skills required for the role

  • Degree educated ( Mechanical Engineering preferred)

  • Experienced engineer ( at least 5 years post graduate) with Rail Industry background essential

  • High level of understanding engineering drawings and writing technical documents / work instructions from them

  • Capable of writing engineering reports and doing complex engineering calculations.

  • Good at problem solving and finding innovative solutions to engineering issues

  • Some experience within a Production Engineering environment would be helpful

  • Proficient in Microsoft suite, including MS project and power point – a good understanding of CAD packages would be helpful, but not an essential part of the role.

  • Able to manage conflicting priorities and communicate cross teams effectively
