Collision repair of 170204 for Abellio Greater Anglia
Brodie Engineering undertook a major crash damage repair for Abellio Greater Anglia to unit 170204 which struck a tractor on a level crossing. The train received major structural damage to the cab, underframe equipment, body side and sole-bar which you can see in the pictures below.
Here are some of the pictures we took of the unit when it first arrived at Brodie Engineering and then once we had completed the repair and the unit was ready for the tracks again after just 9 months!
With the involvement of all stakeholders, the complete repair was complete and turned around in a short 9 months which beats the normal rail average. Typically to complete this type of repair in the rail industry, it would take on average around 12 months or more.
The repair included novel solutions to the roof and sole-bar structural damage which was supported by letters of attestation from competent 3rd parties.
