Brodie Engineering: A Leading Rolling Stock Engineering business offers a comprehensive range of refurbishment, maintenance, overhaul, engineering support, project management, and repair services to the UK rail and light rail sector.

We operate from our depots in Kilmarnock, Scotland and provide a mobile service to the rail industry over the length and breadth of the UK and Ireland.

Job Overview
We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Maintenance Engineer to join our team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong mechanical and electrical background, with the ability to troubleshoot and maintain various systems within our facilities. This role requires a proactive approach to ensuring all equipment operates efficiently, contributing to the overall productivity of the organisation.

This is a ‘hands on’ role, the job holder will be responsible carrying out fault finding and preventative maintenance on buildings, plant, and equipment.

As our Maintenance Engineer your duties will include:

  • Conduct regular maintenance checks on machinery and equipment to ensure optimal performance.
  • Troubleshoot and repair mechanical and electrical issues as they arise.
  • Read and interpret schematics to understand system layouts and components.
  • Supervise maintenance staff, providing guidance and leadership in daily tasks.
  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities and repairs performed.
  • Collaborate with other departments to address maintenance needs and improve processes.
  • Provide excellent customer service by responding promptly to maintenance requests from staff.

Key skills and experience needed to become our Maintenance Engineer:

  • Strong mechanical knowledge with the ability to diagnose issues effectively.
  • Ability to complete remedial repair work in line with statutory and legal requirements.
  • Adept at problem solving and flexible in their approach to work.
  • Proficiency in electrical systems, including wiring, circuits, and troubleshooting techniques.
  • Familiarity with reading schematics and technical drawings.
  • Excellent customer service skills, ensuring a positive experience for all internal stakeholders.
  • Able to work to tight deadlines.
  • A time served apprentice trained with industrial experience (medium to heavy industrial plant and equipment) with formal qualifications (Level 3 City and Guilds, 18th Edition or equivalent)
  • Driving Licence (essential)
  • Experience and training for working at height (essential)
  • MEWPS licence (essential)
