Brodie Engineering: A Leading Rolling Stock Engineering Business offers a comprehensive range of refurbishment, maintenance, overhaul, engineering support, project management, and repair services to the UK rail and light rail sector.

We operate from our depots in Kilmarnock, Scotland and provide a mobile service to the rail industry over the length and breadth of the UK and Ireland.

We are looking to recruit a Stores Person to support with the day to day running of the consumables store, delivering a secure, efficient, and reliable service to colleagues.

The stores person is responsible for ensuring that all consumable parts are stored, handled, and issued correctly.  The Stores Person will maintain accurate records of all transactions, perform regular stock checks. 

The duties of the role include:

  • Loading/Unloading of lorries and vans
  • Raising requisition orders and liaising with Materials Manager on purchase of supplies as required.
  • Ensuring timely receipt of purchased materials into electronic database.
  • Responsibility for the control of all stock movements into and out of the stores both physically and on the electronic system.
  • Checking material certification against orders.
  • Ensuring required stock levels are maintained.
  • Ensuring all materials are controlled in accordance with internal processes and quality procedures.
  • Ensuring the safe handling, control and issuing of all chemicals/paints in line with internal COSHH procedures.
  • Participate in daily/ weekly/monthly/ annual cycle counting
  • Producing weekly stock usage reports
  • Monitor and report on trends/abnormal usage etc.
  • Packaging of materials for onward shipment
  • Preparing delivery paperwork

The ideal candidate will:

  • Ideally have a working knowledge of rail industry terminology or building trade.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Excellent working knowledge of excel and word.
  • Experience of SAGE desirable but not essential.
  • Proactive, positive approach and ability to work on own initiative.
  • Strong analytical, organisational and time management skills.
  • Effective communication at all levels.
  • Ability to work without direct supervision.
  • Warehouse experience essential.
  • Forklift licence desirable but not essential.
  • Driving licence essential.
